The building itself is an old Victorian building, and whereas it doesn't offer ultra modern facilities it does offer us masses of space! This has allowed us to run childrens and youth work simultaneously on the weekends, and open the doors to various community groups.
One of the principal objectives of the building is for it to be used to reach the wider community either in the close geographic vicinity or the wider city. So far we have been pleased to welcome the Trussell Trust in to run craft sessions and we have also been able to provide facilities for Alabare as they move a number of their projects into SP2 as part of their Alabare Include programme. Groups of men and women have been able to meet for social events in our comfortable Lounge facility, and a local youth group takes over the whole building twice a month.
CAP Money is a course we have introduced to the congregation and the community as a whole in the last few months. It is a course designed to help those struggling to manage their money and pay their bills enabling to move away from what may become a dire financial situation.
The new SP2 building now has planning permission and will be ready for use by the youth and children of St. Paul's as well as the local community, in early 2012. Look out for updates on this website as it goes up, and look out for the great opportunities that this building will provide. We really believe that this new building could be used for great things in Salisbury!
