Hello Guys! My name is Martin and I am a bible student studying at Moorlands College and have had the pleasure of working with the youth department here at St.Paul’s as a six-week placement. The placement was actually brilliantly timed because I was able to join Encounter (St.Paul’s senior youth group) for their weekend away 2010!
Heatree (above) was our home for the weekend, a beautiful old manor house in the heart of the Dartmoor countryside, along with hot showers and a warm bed for the night - a lush experience for any youth worker! There were also team activities, kayaking, rock climbing and mountain biking to get involved in.
Yan Nicholls was our quest speaker, a well known evangelist for YWAM and manager of their evangelism for the London 2012 Olympics. Yan took us on a journey of “Pure God’. The talks were very inspiring and were clearly used by God to encourage the young people in their faith but also to provoke a desire to go deeper with God.
The worship and prayer time was amazing; I have never seen so many young people wanting prayer for healing and restoration in their lives, for God to break down these barriers and bring them in closer.
Through all the activities, relationships, talks, walks, prayer and praise there are three words to rap it all up: I “ENCOUNTERED” GOD! Ooh the Irony!
