Another Big Saturday update

Many thanks to all 138 volunteers who served with us on Another Big Saturday on 17th July! It was our largest yet, with small teams decorating, gardening, and cleaning for local residents right across Salisbury in 29 placements.

As the organising team, we recognise that some placements were particularly demanding and we are extremely grateful to all who worked so hard in sometimes very adverse (chalk!) situations!

New levels of motivation are reported at the Trussell Trust where a dedicated team dug for literally hours. The new frame for their polytunnell does look terrific and they are most grateful!

We have received a good number of thank you cards and notes from very satisfied clients. One elderly man told his decorating team, "I've been praying for a miracle, and I think I've just witnessed it." His spirits lifted considerably during the day.

Another client stopped me in the street yesterday to say that she will be signing up for the next Big Saturday on 23rd October as "it's time I put something back after all you've done for me"!  Great stuff!

A lasting memory for me will be the stream of cars queuing to leave St Paul's Road as numerous people set off for their placements that morning.  There was a great sense of common mission and a community on the move!

Please do book the next Big Saturday on 23rd October in your diary - we're looking forward to it already!
