Getting up early to pray can be hard... but Jesus did it: "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed" (Mark 1:35). However hard it is though, God is always faithful to meet his people and to speak to us. Why not join us some time to find out for yourself?
In keeping with our current teaching series on 'Hearing God's Voice', we gave some time at this morning's early morning prayer to listening to what He had to say to us. We had been praying about worship and prayer at St Paul's and, faithful to His word, God spoke. Here are some of things that were shared...
The words of the song 'Made to worship': "You and I were made to worship... when you and I embrace surrender, then you and I will see who we were meant to be."
Psalm 145 v10 & v12 "All you have made will praise you, O Lord... so that all men may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendour of your kingdom". When we worship, we draw close to the Kingdom of God.
Our worship should be characterised by 'passionate participation' - we need to have 'confidence to engage' and we need to recognise that God isn't looking for 'perfect' worship - in fact He "rejoice[s] over [us] with singing" (Zephaniah 3:17) - He is simply looking for an offering from our hearts.
Also shared was the sense that worship can be used for healing. This coming Sunday we will be looking at healing in both services and our evening service is set aside as a 'Healing Service'. So, if you are in need of healing, why not take hold of God's promise in Luke 11 - "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" - and join us as we worship God and seek Him together - "For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
