“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men” Ephesians 6:7 (NIV)
We are each called to participate in the life of the church, serving each other rather than expecting to be served. With so many activities going on at St Paul’s, there are plenty of opportunities for you to find a place where you can enjoy and benefit from serving.
Worship Team opportunities exist primarily in music and audio and visual technologies, but perhaps you want to offer your skills in dance, art, drama, lighting, poetry, video production or other arts. How has God gifted you to serve?
Whatever your availability, age, background or skill level, if you would like to be involved in any our expressions of worship, take a look at the Worship Team page.
We currently need more members on the Welcome Teams for our Sunday services. If you think this might be you, please contact Sandra Featherstone in the Church Office.
If you've ever thought about leading the prayers during a Sunday service, contact the Church Office.
Even if you're not a coffee drinker, you can help prepare drinks to serve after a morning service! This opportunity could suit an individual or a family team. Help is urgently needed on the third Sunday of each month in the morning and the second Sunday in the evening. Contact Diane Biscoe on 01722 330648 for more information.
A small but dedicated team of volunteers prepare the communion bread and wine for our Sunday services. If you could help on the 3rd Sunday morning of each month (or simply join the reserves list, covering holidays and sickness), please contact Sandra in the Church Office.
Could you help prepare small table decorations for Alpha and other events? No special skills are required. If you could help once or twice a term, please contact Sandra in the Church Office.
If you could spare the occasional hour (or two!) helping Sandra with large mail-outs, please contact the Church Office.
Catering volunteers are needed each term to help with cooking, serving and clearing up various events. Speak to Sandra in the Church Office if you think you could help.
If you have a heart for children, love seeing them discover God's love for them, and can join in worship, craft and storytelling with enthusiasm, you're probably suited to children's work. Please contact Jane Renyard via the Church Office if this could be you!
The Youth Department are keen to recruit more adult mentors, both male and female, to begin mentoring Encounter members in September 2008. Speak to Steve Inglis on 01722 334005 as soon as possible if you think you could help!
In line with our vision to equip the people of God and in recognition of the ways God has blessed us as a church, we occasionally send our 'Away Teams' to help other churches and ministries.
By supporting others who are in need of teachers, worship leaders, musicians, etc, we hope to serve God beyond our own walls.
Most Tuesdays we provide a jacket potato lunch to the elderly and homeless, as well as others from the community around the church. Please note: The Potato Patch is closed over the summer.
Each term we send over 100 people out into the community to help local residents, care organisations and charities in a day of service. Keep an eye on this page for details of future dates.
Each summer our Encounter youth group gives a week to serve the local community in some way.
If you would like to know about serving a specific area of church life that isn’t included here, please contact our Church Office.
